Canadian multi-talented musician Jon Mullane unveils his most accomplished powerhouse rock record to date. Shift, Mullane’s sophomore album will be released through The Orchard Distribution Group, with the first of several special CD release events slated for Friday, February 26, 2010 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The event will be in conjunction with Molsen Atlantic’s Give’ER’ fundraiser series, this one in support of Canada Winter Games 2011.

When Liberal MLAs, including a cabinet minister, came out publicly that they would not vote for deal to sell NB Power to Hydro Quebec, miraculously, two days later, a new deal was presented that had 100 per cent caucus approval. Reception to the revised memorandum of understanding (MOU) to sell the utility has been more positive than when the first MOU was announced in October.

By day, this member of the Actor’s Studio can be found busily inspiring young dramatists as the Artistic Director of Youngblood, the company of emerging, under-30 playwrights at Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York City. By night, he’s probably channelling his experiences into a new play. Gillis is someone who has grown comfortable with being away from home, while developing his imagination on what he has left behind.

Halifax resident Sunisha Neupane has received Nova Scotia’s top award for volunteerism by the non-profit development agency CUSO-VSO. Neupane, who is originally from Nepal was honoured for her work on CUSO-VSO’s ‘Stand Up’ campaign which draws attention to world poverty. She is currently completing a double major in international development and chemistry at Dalhousie University.

An interactive campaign was launched this week by Bill Estabrooks, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal, “Canada’s University Capital” campaign, aims to send a strong message to Ontario students that Nova Scotia is the education destination.
